Bliatkas, Nikolas
Naousa, 1962
He studied painting (1986–1991) under Vangelis Dimitreas at the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, School of Fine Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he later worked as an associate in the 5th Painting Studio and in the Printmaking Studio (2008–2010). From 2002 to 2015, he was the artistic director of the Visual Arts Workshops of the Municipality of Naousa. Today, he divides his time between Thessaloniki and Lemnos, where since 2013 he has been exhibition curator at the Ochra 110111 Blue Art Space of Zanna Kandylidou in Myrina: a contemporary art gallery hosting periodic exhibitions of established artists and offering handmade art objects. Primarily a painter, he often adopts mixed media in an original way. His works, executed with paint as well as gold and silver leaf, metal, and other materials, explore the relationship between man and contemporary reality. In recent years, the concept of nature—particularly of the lost paradise—has dominated his work, depicting meadows, gardens, and plants in a semi-realistic manner imbued with a strong metaphysical atmosphere. His first solo exhibition, ‟On the Occasion of Byzantine Painting,” was presented at Fisksätra Bibliotek, Stockholm (1991). Since then, he has shown his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His most recent solo exhibition, ‟Inner Gardens,” was hosted at Astrolavos–Dexameni Art Gallery in Athens (2025).
