Zdravkova, Milena (Здравкова, Милена)
Sofia, 1964
She studied textile and clothing arts at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. After graduation, she began participating in various group exhibitions. In recent years, she has been living and working in London, where she established the Milena Textile Design Studio. She produces paintings, compositions with light materials (watercolors, drawings), and prints. Primarily, however, she is engaged in the applied arts, especially textiles. She also creates ceramics. Her style is expressed through free drawing and bright, soft colors. She draws inspiration from the natural world, particularly plants. Her compositions convey a dreamlike, idyllic atmosphere with a strong metaphysical/symbolic element. She has participated in group exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. In 2013 she received the first prize at the Bulgarian National Patchwork Competition for her work ‟Gran Teatro del Liceo”. In 2021 she was awarded second prize ‟Lorenzo il Magnifico” in Textile Art at the XIII Florence Biennale for her fabric mosaic ‟Her Thoughts”. The following year she received an Honorable Mention at the ‟Artist of the Year” competition organized by the Circle Foundation for the Arts.
