Veles, 1972
Born in Veles (Velissos or Veles) in North Macedonia. He studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje, in the studio of Simon Shemov (graduating in 2000). In 1998 he received the Borko Lazeski Painting Award. In 2001 he attended engraving and graphic arts courses at the International School of Graphic Arts in Venice, in the workshop of Franco Vekiet. In 2002 he completed his postgraduate studies in painting, again under Shemov. In 1998 he became a member of the Veles Artists’ Association, serving as its president from 2002 to 2004. He was co-creator and co-curator of the international multimedia project ‟Differences Unite,” held in May 2003 in Veles. He has been highly active in exhibitions, union activity, and curatorial projects in his hometown, where he lives and works. He began as a figurative painter but, after his studies in Venice, adopted more contemporary methods of expression directly linked to printmaking and paper processing. Today he creates installations and objects from treated paper and also produces prints. He has presented his work in solo exhibitions and participated in important group shows in North Macedonia and abroad, such as the ‟IX Winter Salon,” Museum of Contemporary Art, Skopje (2002); ‟Graphic Circle – International Mini Print Biennial Exhibition,” Veles Museum (2002); ‟Fresh as a Tomato: Contemporary Macedonian Art Stripped and without Limits,” Kazamat Gallery, Osijek, Croatia (2014), among others.
