He studied painting at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, graduating in 1978, and in 1982 became a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. During his studies, he won several scholarships that allowed him to travel to countries of the Eastern Bloc, particularly to the Academy of Arts in East Berlin. In 1985, he emigrated with his family to Turkey. He taught in the Painting Department of Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, from which he retired in 2016. A painter and sculptor, he was also a significant academic teacher. His painting, rooted in Expressionism, gradually evolved toward abstraction. In many works, figurative memories coexist with broad, non-representational surfaces. His intense colors, forceful brushwork, and distinctive handling of the brush reveal a deeply personal style, increasingly charged in his later works. His sculpture also embraced abstraction. His first solo exhibition was held in 1980 at the Burgas City Gallery. He subsequently held solo exhibitions in both Bulgaria and Turkey, and participated in group shows in both countries and abroad. He was awarded prizes by the Union of Bulgarian Artists and in international exhibitions. In 2008, he received the Heykel-Ilhan Koman Award from the Thrace University of Fine Arts in Edirne. His works are in museums and galleries in Bulgaria and Turkey, as well as in numerous private collections.

[10

post-779","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-10
["GET
