After graduation, he continued (1962–1964) with Vassilis Vassiliadis in the Decoration and Scenography studio. Between 1962–1964, with an IKY scholarship, he studied Byzantine and folk art. From 1961 he worked as a stage designer and costume designer for theater and cinema, as well as an illustrator of books. In 1977 he illustrated the calendar of the Cement Company AGET-HERACLES-OLYMPOS. He decorated the National Bank of Greece pavilion at the ‟Posidonia ’84” exhibition. He taught Decorative Applications, Freehand Drawing, and Color at the ATO-Doxiadis School of Decorators (1964–1976), Scenography at the ATES and Vakalo Schools (1979–1984), and Decorative Applications and Color at the TEI of Athens (1984–1986). His first solo painting exhibition was held at Astor Gallery in 1970. These works stemmed from critical and photographic realism but combined influences from magical realism and scenography. The uncanny compositions alluded to political deviation and commented on the tense climate of the Dictatorship. During the Metapolitefsi he turned to depictions of the natural landscape, without abandoning his surrealist references, which drew from archaeological heritage and contemporary society with a poetic gaze. His work gradually evolved with the series ‟Endless Landscape”: landscapes reminiscent of aerial photographs interpreted space through references to Expressionism and Abstraction. Monumental compositions unfolded across space by means of different, complementary canvases, where the landscape developed endlessly in free progression. In his later series he was preoccupied with the motif of the tree trunk and portraiture (through surreal encounters of prominent personalit ies). One of the most important Greek visual artists of recent decades, he has presented his work in numerous solo exhibitions, most recently ‟Introversion in Small Format” (Argo Gallery, 2023) and ‟Silent Dialogues” (Mykonos Cultural Center, 2025). He has also participated in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, including the São Paulo Biennale (1969), ‟Panorama of Greek Painting 1950–1975” (Museum Ostwall, Dortmund, 1976), ‟The Physiognomy of Postwar Art in Greece, Part IV: After Abstraction” (Nea Morfi Art Gallery, Athens, 1985), ‟Peinture Grecque 1968–1988” (Commission and Secretariat of the Council of the European Communities, Brussels, 1988), ‟Weaving. Painting and Tapestry in Greece from 1960 until Today” (Benaki Museum, 2019), ‟1922–2022 Exodus – Outlet” (former Public Tobacco Factory, Athens, 2023), among others. In 2011 the Academy of Athens honored him for his overall artistic contribution.

[10

post-759","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-10
["GET
