After graduation she lived in Craiova, where she taught and founded the Department of Graphic Arts at Marin Sorescu Secondary School. In 1985 she received a scholarship for further training in Rome. Upon her return to Romania, she settled permanently in Timi\u0219oara. There, in 1989, together with other artists she was instrumental in founding the Faculty of Arts and Design of the West University, where she taught as a full professor. Initially a printmaker and painter, she later turned toward installation art. Her early work was figurative (with an emphasis on landscape), but gradually it became abstract, using pure forms and clear shapes, especially in her prints. In her installations she employs ready-mades, large-scale prints, weavings, clay and polyurethane sculptures, and other materials, creating visually and conceptually complex environments. The notions of memory and female identity preoccupy her, especially in her later works. Today she is recognized as one of the most important figures of contemporary Romanian art, with a long artistic, educational, and exhibition career. Her first solo exhibition was at Cupola Gallery, Ia\u0219i (1976). Many followed in major Romanian cities, as well as at Eforie Gallery, Rome (1985), and in Hungary, the Netherlands, and elsewhere. In December 2023 a major retrospective titled \u201fCatharsis at the Edge of the World\u201d opened at the Paul Neagu Gallery, part of the National Museum of Art, Timi\u0219oara, curated by Andreea Foanene. She has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions and biennials in Romania and abroad, receiving many awards. Notable among them: the \u201cEx-Equo\u201d Woodcut Prize at the Biennale of Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica (Czechoslovakia, 1982), First Prize at the International Biennale of Contemporary Art of Francophone Countries, Paris (1992), Second Prize for Printmaking at the Maastricht Print Biennale (Netherlands, 1993).
