Avgeri, Anna
Athens
She studied dentistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She pursued free studies in painting at the Hellenic Center of Art and Culture under Antonis Kourtikakis, and also apprenticed with sculptor Kostas Andreou. She is a member of the Literary and Artistic Circle of Dentists. Her painting moves between representational and abstract expression, drawing primarily on the great tradition of Expressionism. In her non-figurative works, she relies solely on color, creating bursts of light. In her figurative compositions, the forms are schematic and distorted. The result is a lyrical painting, imbued with emotional intensity. In 2009 she presented the exhibition ‟Passion” at the Old Customs House in Paxos, and in 2012 the exhibition ‟Seeing the Un-seen” at the Gallery of Contemporary Balkan Art in Kontias. She has also participated in several group exhibitions in Athens.
